WARDOGS Best Assault Rifle Ranked (2026)

Updated 16 Sep 2026 · Early Access
The short answer

The best assault rifle in WARDOGS is the Galil at assault level 10. It hits harder per shot than the AK-74 and its slower fire rate makes it easier to control at range. The AK-74 at level 3 is the gun that carries you there, and the FAL at level 35 is the apex, a rifle you can flick to single fire and use like a marksman rifle. The M4 divides players, so test it in the range before you commit. All of them beat the free starter rifles the moment you can afford one.

AK-74Best early (L3)
GalilBest all-round (L10)
FALApex (L35)
T-21Cheap full-auto

Assault rifles reach out to long range with little damage drop-off, which is their edge over SMGs. Recoil is mostly vertical, so you control them by pulling straight down. Numbers below are current Early Access.

Starter (Bushmaster / A-91 / KH-2002)FreeEach faction's free 5.56 rifle, all identical apart from the iron sights. Semi and burst only. A fine regain weapon: get two kills, take a better gun.
T-21$600Same damage as the starter but full auto, at 750 rounds a minute. Effectively a full-auto upgrade for the free rifle. A cheap step up.
AK-74Assault 3 · $1,6005.45, reliable, accurate, good irons. The first real upgrade and it stays useful for a long time.
GalilAssault 10Higher damage per shot and a slower fire rate, so it is easier to control and stronger at range. The best all-round AR.
M4Assault 2030 damage, fast fire, heavier recoil. Some players love it, some call it a downgrade from the Galil. Test it first, and always take the 30-round mag.
FALAssault 35 · $6,500.308, 60 damage, two-shots an unarmoured target. Flick to single fire with a 4x and it becomes a mini marksman rifle. The apex.

Which assault rifle should you buy?

Buy the AK-74 the moment you hit assault level 3, because it is a clear jump over the free rifles and it costs little. Ride it to level 10 and switch to the Galil, which is where the tree pays off: the slower, harder-hitting rifle is easier to land at the ranges assault fights happen. Treat the M4 as a personal preference rather than an upgrade, and only chase the FAL if you are grinding assault to the cap, since it takes a large amount of XP to unlock. If money is tight early, the T-21 is a cheap way to get full auto before the AK.

Attachments: fix the vertical, skip the rest

Because AR recoil is almost all vertical, the attachments worth buying reduce vertical climb or improve how fast you aim, since aiming in is slow in this game. A vertical grip or an angled grip and a red-dot sight cover most guns. Save your money on muzzles until suppressors unlock, and remember that a high-zoom scope plus a heavy grip can leave you aiming in far too slowly, which is how people end up dead behind a laggy Galil.

Single fire is a weapon, not a fallback

At range, flick the FAL and other rifles to single fire and tap. It turns a spraying assault rifle into a precise mid-range gun and saves you from fighting full-auto recoil you cannot win.
