WARDOGS Best Snipers Ranked (2026)
The best all-round sniper in WARDOGS is the SV-98, a bolt-action that one-shots the head and two-shots the body through level 2 armour. For value, the SKS at recon level 5 does most of the work for a quarter of the price. The best semi-auto marksman rifle is the SVD, and the .50 cal is the only weapon that one-shots the head through any helmet in the game. Skip the starting scout rifle entirely, and mount a bipod on everything, because it turns a recoil-heavy rifle into a near-zero-recoil beam.
Damage in WARDOGS is tied to the round, then split by weapon-category multipliers, so a sniper and a DMR firing the same cartridge hit the body differently. The numbers below are firing-range results against level 2 armour, the tier most players run because it costs about $200. Values are current Early Access and shift with patches.
Every sniper and DMR, ranked
| Weapon | Unlock / cost | The case for it |
|---|---|---|
| SKS | Recon 5 · $2,400 | 7.62 semi-auto, 42 damage. One-shot head with no helmet, two head-shots or a head-and-body vs level 2. Cheapest real rifle and it levels Recon fastest because it gets kills. |
| Mosin-Nagant | Recon 10 · $4,500 | 55 damage bolt-action. One-shots the head through a standard helmet; head-and-body drops level 3. The classic. |
| SVD (Dragunov) | Recon 12 | Semi-auto, same 55 damage, consistent three-shot body, fast head-and-body. Needs the bipod and suppressor to shine. Best DMR. |
| SV-98 | Recon (high) · $5,200 | Bolt-action with a 10-round mag, slightly more accurate than the Mosin. One-shot head and two-shot body vs level 2. Best sniper overall. |
| MK22 / BMR-308 | Recon 25-30 · ~$6,000-6,400 | .308 rifles, 60 damage, fast rounds. The MK22 one-shots the head; the BMR carries a bigger magazine but caps at a 4x scope. |
| .50 cal (AMR-50) | Recon 35 · $8,800 | 107 damage, 205 to the head. One-shots the head through any helmet, two-shots the body through the heaviest armour. Extremely heavy, so it costs you your sprint. |
| Bow | Recon 17 | One-shots anyone in light armour anywhere on the body, no damage drop-off. Silent. No attachments, so it lives at medium range. |
Which sniper should you actually buy?
If you are still climbing Recon, the SKS is the answer. It is cheap, it kills, and it keeps leveling you toward the better rifles. Once you want a one-shot bolt-action, the SV-98 edges out the Mosin on accuracy and magazine size, though the Mosin is fine and cheaper. If you prefer to hold the trigger, the SVD is the pick, and it is the DMR that carries into the mid game. The high-end .50 cal is a specialist tool for cracking heavy armour, not an everyday gun, because its weight and price gut the rest of your loadout.
The attachment that matters most: the bipod
Recoil on these rifles is punishing when you fire fast, and a bipod erases most of it. Hold the deploy key to mount it on a ledge or table, and the weapon becomes a near-zero-recoil platform. This is why holding a fixed angle out-performs run-and-gun sniping: from a good perch above an enemy base you can stack kills faster than you can miss. Add a suppressor to stay off the kill-cam, and pick a scope by range, not zoom for its own sake.
These one-shot and two-shot numbers are against level 2 armour. Against level 3 and 4 helmets, every rifle below the .50 cal needs an extra round, so aim for the head and expect to follow up. Do not grind Recon with the scout rifle: spot with binoculars until the SKS unlocks.
